Title: Rossini: Moïse et Pharaon
Post by: Mark Thomas on Friday 31 July 2020, 10:00
Naxos are shortly to release a new recording (https://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.660473-75) of Rossini's French expansion of Mose in Egitto - Moïse et Pharaon, one of the first French grand operas. It was recorded at the 2018 Bad Wildbad festival. There's an earlier Hungaroton recording, but I assume that's cut as it's 20 minutes shorter than this new one which promises to be the "original, uncut version". Here's a sound bite from Act III (https://tr.anpasia.com/track?t=c&mid=4223037&uid=40667508&&&https%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fnaxosmusicgroup%2F866047375-cd3-track06-excerpt).
