The Thorofon recordings that are the only alternative for sonatas 2&3 have been deleted, so this recording of works by a friend of Brahms with a good ear in chamber settings is welcome. Expected out in September. (https://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.574213)
Apologies for resurrecting this thread- has anyone heard this disc? :)
No apology needed. The Thorofon recordings are still listed at jpc:

Does that disc really last for 86 mins?!
Evidently, yes:

Interesting. But Dutton couldn't include all the works they recorded by Ina Boyle without embedding one as an unplayable (for most people) "free bonus" SACD track, because otherwise the music would not fit on the disk. Yeah, yeah. (Don't get me started). Now back to Fuchs.
Don't get me started either...
These are very fine-sounding performances, although I'm no expert. The 86:06 CD played perfectly on my venerable TEAC machine.
No idea. It's a great machine, though it won't play CD-Rs.
