Some while ago, under the topic of unsung women composers, I half jokingly suggested a cd of 'The Three Ethels'. Naxos have now recorded two Ethels. Ethel Barns, La Chasse and Ethel Smythe's violin sonata, they are coupled with works by Irene Weiniawski, Phyllis Tate and Elizabeth Maconchy. The cd title is British Women Composers. Now all I can do is wait for Ethel Barns violin concerto
