Title: Abegg Trio series on Tacet
Post by: eschiss1 on Thursday 21 January 2021, 13:37
The Abegg trio has been noteworthy for maintaining a database of piano trios that they play, and an even larger database of piano trios that they know to exist, with useful information on a fair number of them. According to Presto, they are now releasing recordings of piano trios by multiple composers (not all Romantics) on the Tacet label- Brahms, Schumann, but also Farrenc 2 and Berwald 3 (https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/8870728--abegg-trio-series-vol-18), Kiel (no.5) and Goetz (https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/8870729--abegg-trio-series-vol-19), etc. (I think. Some of these were probably issued earlier without the label "Antes Edition" attached.) Anyway, while most of these works have been recorded- probably all - the Kiel, Goetz, Berwald and Farrenc, e.g. are fairly unsung. (If it is wished that I separate these into separate posts per CD, I can do that.)
