My radar has never picked up de Boisdeffre but his music sounds attractive enough. These three CDs are for the shopping list, I think.

Just listening to No.2 - and what a very beautiful work this is. The idiom? Rather more euphonius than his contemporary Saint-Saëns, I suppose - otherwise I don't really know who to compare it with. It's just gorgeous all the way through. Review here: http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2021/Nov/Boisdeffre-sextets-AP0515.htm

Thanks for that comment, Alan. I've never heard of this composer, but it sounds like it's another CD for my wants list.

Acte Préalable have issued quite a few CDs of de Boisdeffre's chamber music, which are easily available in the UK at least through MusicWeb International (http://www.musicweb-international.com/Acte_Prealable/Catalogue_Acte_Prealable_2013.htm). I'm eagerly awaiting those which I've ordered on the back of Alan's recommendations here.
