Hi everyone, thought some of you might be interested...! Just letting you know that I'll be giving a live online/radio performance of Miriam Hyde's Piano Sonata in Melbourne (Australia) on Wednesday 24th November 7pm AEDT - 3MBS-FM or digital https://3mbs.org.au/how-to-listen/ (https://3mbs.org.au/how-to-listen/)(audio) or via their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/3MBSMelbourne (https://www.facebook.com/3MBSMelbourne)(for video). Also on the programme is Schumann (Kinderszenen) and Fujimura (Phantasy for piano).
Thank you. I'm currently listening to Geoffrey Tozer's recording on youtube and am impressed. Rachmaninov himself might not have disowned it, Dies Irae and all!
More chromatic, though, surely?
Certainly more harmonically "advanced" than her two piano concerti, but on second hearing of the first movement I hear Rachmaninov (particularly the G minor sonata) even more strongly. And in a way that suggests she had thoroughly assimilated the idiom and had something of her own to say. The second and third movements are growing on me too. I think it's gorgeous, so good luck KenjiF - maybe remind us nearer the date?
I've found one recording (download only):

Are there any others? Did Tozer ever record it commercially?
Youtube lists a big celebratory set in which Tozer presumably plays the sonata, but it's a CDR and might be a library archive release or something. There -are- several commercial releases of the work but I don't offhand see any performed by Tozer.
Hi everyone,
My performance of the Miriam Hyde Piano Sonata is up on facebook for a limited time only: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=273556468144295 (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=273556468144295)
The Sonata starts at around the 30-minute mark (before that there's my own Phantasy for piano, and Schumann's Kinderszenen).
A couple of commercial CDs including her Sonata are noted in https://www.australianmusiccentre.com.au/workversion/hyde-miriam-sonata-for-piano-in-g-minor/918 (https://www.australianmusiccentre.com.au/workversion/hyde-miriam-sonata-for-piano-in-g-minor/918). They do seem to be still available.

However, the associated information is sparse, to say the least!
