Yes, it's been recorded many times, but Bernstein's later recording with the Boston Symphony shows the work for the masterpiece it is, still largely unknown to the concert-going public...

I will take a chance, but based on Hurwitz's review, I've opted for his 1960 NYPO recording.

I haven't heard that. I settled for Bernstein's later recording on the basis of its better sound quality. Thanks for the reminder of it, though.
