Title: Sinding: Piano Trios and Six Pieces for Cello and Piano
Post by: Tapiola on Friday 22 November 2024, 03:33
I've seen a couple of new CPO recordings being posted already. Well, there's a third one of some potential interest as well (featuring the Hyperion Trio):

His three piano trios and Six Pieces for Cello and Piano, op. 66.

Very nice indeed. Thanks for the information.

Thanks, Tuomas. Generally speaking, when a recording label pre-releases rips of CDs to artists for posting on YouTube they either require them to be embargoed until the CD release date, or allow just one or two tracks to be published there as teasers. cpo seem to have a more relaxed attitude, or maybe they're just less vigilant in policing early YouTube posting.

On the one hand, I approve. On the other?, one complete recording of the trios (also, fairly sure there was an earlier recording of the first trio - on Simax?? - to complement the Marco Polo recording of the second and third) but: no recording of his string quartet in A minor Op.70, to date... :)

The String Quartet is a piece I miss too. The First Piano Trio hadn't been recorded until CPO did it. It's the Piano Quintet that has been recorded already.

I've heard two movements of the string quartet in computer renditions, iirc, and would really like to hear a good "real" recording of it. (If it circulates on radio recording or anything I don't know of this.) The first movement has memorable melody and real brio and might be a favorite Sinding piece for me despite some faults. Not sure why I thought the first piano trio had already been recorded- I could have had it confused with someone else's music somehow, knowing me :( ...
Thanks!
