Recordings & Broadcasts / Re: Liadov Piano music

The complete music is available on a Brilliant Classics box....which actually has literal duplication (i.e. same recording) from the same pianist's complete Borodin disc.

As an American, I find it hard to believe RVW is so unknown in some parts of the world.

I'm sure this'll be a 2-piano arrangement. 2 pianos plus orchestra would have to be a new composition, surely?

Obviously it means the former, but I have seen a couple cases of a two piano & orchestra version of a piece and orchestra piece (that being at the least a version of Rhapsody in Blue, though it was a modern-ish arrangement)

I could actually see R-K and Korngold coupled given they are both single-movement concerti...and both in C# for that matter (though granted different modes).

Adding Chopin to the mix kinda makes it a 'this is what the pianist wanted to record' type of disc...

There's a discography for individual pieces in the thematic catalog, which is from 2009. You can DL it here https://depositonce.tu-berlin.de/handle/11303/2418

Well usually 'complete piano music' tends to only include two-hand piano, not four-handed in either capacity. Not always granted, but usually. So "include everything" might not include that (or the other piano duet stuff).
Incidentally my own list doesn't have that version. If it does exist it wasn't assigned its own catalog number at least.

An actual full series of Mozkowski piano music would be very welcome. The solo piano music takes up a good 155 pages of the thematic catalog....looks to be about 75 works (including muti-work opuses).

Respighi on the other hand only wrote a small amount (about 15 works on my own list). I wonder if two discs is all it needs....

Yeah I've had the Marco Polo version forever. It's certainly worth picking up....it's great Naxos is keeping some of these old OOP recordings available as more than an Amazon or Arkiv CDR.

Huh, literally today Brilliant posted this set on their YT channel. Is that why you happened to ask?

While I'm of the opinion that the Botstein is the best one...

(On Telarc, haven't heard the recentish one available on download/streaming)

How odd. I got it through Interlibrary Loan here in the US with no issue, though as mentioned it's all in Czech which for sure made it hard to parse sometimes.

Hmmm, what's this Reicha?
I know of a 'Solo in e' for Horn and Piano, an Introduction and Rondo for Horn and Orchestra (which I have), and 'Two Solos' for Horn and Orchestra.

Of course 'Narcissus' is a nice little chestnut that's pretty well known. I actually got a CD recently that had a different piece by him. But should b eintregued to hear the rest of this.

This is a very nice disc....but being just arrangements it kinda doesn't feel, mmmm....nessesary? I guess since i have so many arrangements already.
