Oh no, the prestige in showing off massive record players cannot be underestimated.

Dislike the results; OK with me. Artistic or sonic disaster; Ok as well. I was just reacting to the "lack of respect" phrasing which I find uncalled for.

Playing them on an instrument they were written for equals lack of respect?

I hope they don't go to Nimbus. In that case future releases will be on CD-Rs, a decidedly inferior product, as the Wyastone group currently only seem to produce those.

Well, it's the lack of Pistons and Crestons etc that keep me from attending concerts.

It's the plethora of Stockhausens, Boulezes, etc. that keep me away. And I too would go for concerts featuring good, tonal 20th/21stC music. But it's the restricted 19thC repertoire that's the real scandal.

I have never noticed any work by either Stockhausen, Boulez, Piston or Creston on concert programmes in the 40 years I have gone to concerts in Norway, not even a Vaughan-Williams symphony (not that I research advertised concerts in great detail, but still....)! I would have welcomed any of them for yet another rerun of the old faithful (not that I'm not a fan of Brahms and Beethoven).

Though it's occasionally interesting to observe his writings. I don't know Spohr's symphonies, but enjoy the cpo set of the violin concertoes quite a bit, wellcrafted, enjoyable and uncomplicated music.

There's much more money at stake, as well as a larger hall to fill, with an orchestral concert. Working on unfamiliar music with 100 musicians as opposed to 3 - 5  is quite another matter as well.

Please don't scare an unsuspecting viewer withh something like this without a warning in the title, like "strong content within".
