...and I must say that it is potent brew - Scriabin is certainly a huge influence on the works from Raitio's middle-period (i.e. the 1920s) and one is also put in mind of Szymanowski and Ravel. But one great virtue is that none of the pieces on the CD in question is very long. In this type of music less really is more.

Yes, I agree pianoconcerto. In fact, we just need more Raitio on CD!

That electronic "performance" was actually made by me.  In hindsight, I could have tried to balance the orchestra part better; winds sound very muddled and there are problems with tempo in some sections and phrasing in the cadenzas, definitely. Excellent work, I think, if one can master the tricky piano part it would ring well in a modern concert hall. Thank you for the mention.

It's unfortunate this concerto has never been recorded (nothing else explains it than the usual Finnish tendency to focus on Sibelius at the expense of other deserving Finnish composers). Contemporary critics praised it, audiences loved it. Lately, Raitio's works have met with some increased interest. His long-forgotten late period operas were edited and performed a few years ago - though these operas weren't excellent, it's one step forward. Several potential symphonic works still await their modern day premieres.

OK it could be better, but it was a good enough realisation to whet my appetite for a human performance so - for me at least - it achieved its purpose!
