Moszkowski Suite d'Orchestre No 1 (1886)

Mortiz Moskowski (1854-1925) spent about ten years of his life in England at a point in his life where he found himself both famous and wealthy. This suite was dedicated to the Philharmonic Society of London.

Sadly the last years of his life were spent in poverty.

Here is a realisation of the first movement from the suite. Moritz introduces simple ideas but develops them with great skill and orchestral craftmanship. It's exciting stuff!

It was great to hear this realisation - and certainly bodes well for Toccata's forthcoming recording, although we will have to wait probably until the second part of next year for this!

It includes:
-Suite n°1
-Overture in D major
-Praludium und fuge for strings

Maybe a volume 4, with the symphony ?

Yes, I'm eagerly awaiting the symphony. From what I've heard it is easily among Moszkowski's best efforts.
