John Frances Barnett was a nephew of composer John Barnett 1802-1890.  He was of German birth and naturalised British.  They changed their surname from Beer to Barnett. John Barnett (Beer) was a cousin of Jacob Liebmann Beer later known as Giacomo Meyerbeer 1791-1864
