Carli (Karl) Zoeller  Born 28 March 1840 Berlin - Died 13 July 1889 London

He studied music at The Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin under Hurbert Ries, Garich and Eduard Grell.  From 1873 he settled in London subsequently becoming band-master of The Seventh Queen's Own Hussars.  He had a particular interest in the Viola d'amore of which he was a well known virtuoso.  He was a member of The Academy of St.Cecilia, Rome and The Royal Institute in Florence.  He died following an accident at a military tournament at The Royal Agricultural Hall , London
