Jakob Zeugheer Herrmann.  Born 20 July 1803 Zurich -  Died 15 June 1865 Liverpool 

A Swiss violinist, composer and conductor who later settled and married 1. in Liverpool. He clearly loved children as he had fourteen of them 2.
Jakob was initially taught by Wassermann in Zurich and from 1818 studied in Munich under Ferdinand Franzel and Gratz. He joined a string quartet and travelled widely in Europe.  From 1830 he settled in Liverpool and became conductor of The Liverpool Philharmonic Societies orchestra.  He also conducted other orchestras, notably in Manchester.

He did not use his surname 'Herrmann'.
