Victorian Opera Northwest had plans to set down this interesting,  rather late (1858), Balfe opera over the summer.  I haven't seen or heard anything since.  Does anyone know if the sessions took place?

On a related note, I see there is a highly specialized newish website devoted to Balfe's operas in languages other than English.

Yes, it was recorded in July, at Urmston Grammar School, Manchester.

When you say "recorded", piano888, do you mean with a CD in mind, for radio broadcast, or something else. It would be good news indeed to have this available commercially!  :)

semloh, no specific information on Victorian opera Northwest's website:

...but all their other projects were released on CD, though the labels have varied: Naxos for Wallace's Lurline, Somm for the British opera overtures, Campion Cameo for Balfe's Maid of Artois.  Perhaps piano888 has inside info?

This group is really providing an invaluable service.  Long may they continue!

It was recorded with a view to issuing on CD, commercially, yes. Who knows on what label though, or when!

They also used Dutton for "On Shore and Sea/Kenilworth". Dutton doesn't seem to be much into opera these days, though. Or much else...

According to the Royal Northern College of Music Satanella was recorded for Naxos!
Release date unknown so far.

Ah, thanks for that information. Where would we be without Naxos!

The Naxos recording of Satanella is due for release on 26th February 2016

Cheers,
