Yet another must-buy, judging by the YouTube performances of the two overtures. Thanks, Alan.

Please, has anyone of you an idea where these CD's can be bought. I've tried to contact Sinfonia Varsovia, but - as so often - got no reply at all....

The two Dux recordings detailed above won't be available for another 2-3 weeks, according to Clic Musique. As for the CDs mentioned by M.Yaskovsky, I can't even begin to guess...

M. Yaskovsky

The two DUX CD's were delivered to me within a week; I ordered them directly from DUX. P&P was included, total was €28,-

Alan Howe

The problem with Dux is that their ordering facility isn't secure. I'll wait a couple of weeks to be on the safe side, I think.

The three CD bocx with Nowowiejski's ballet music (op. 18 & 37) is not a commercial edition. Anyway you can try to ask for it the publisher, Agencja Artystyczna Kameny form Cracow: kontaktmanageras@gmail.com
As I know, there are going to record the complete operas by Nowowiejski in 2018, "Legenda Bałtyku" was performed and recorded in December 2017 (http://kameny.pl/muzyka/). They also pulblished CD with orchestrated "Tatra Album" and Violin Concerto by Paderewski.
On their website (only in Polish) you can find some more details: http://kameny.pl/projekty/

M. Yaskovsky

Thanks zglinsky. Just mailed them, let's see what happens.............

Nice to see a full house for the Baltic piece although I suspect the audience came to hear Chopin.

Baltic Legend, but Polish composer (well, Prussia-born Polish composer), unlessImissmyguess :)

My copy arrived today. The music's incredibly exciting - and often incredibly loud! I think we're going to discover a whole lot more about the stature of this composer if and when more recordings emerge. One thing's for certain: he was master of the orchestra. I'm often put in mind of Respighi - high praise indeed.
